Madame Amalia is vain, greedy, and wants to control everything Evertown. She owns almost everything, and has turned it into a city without green. The only land yet to be conquered is currently home to Spikersfield College and Museum. After the owner, Armand Alea, mysteriously dies, Amalia plots to take over Spikerfield once and for all. But, according to Armand's will, the potential heir of the estate must participate a women's volleyball tournament in honor of the Olympic tradition. The College has a fighting chance to stop Amalia's bulldozers, but first they need to win the tournament. Six girls are recruited to join Spike Team: Jo, Victoria, Beth, Patty, Susan, and Ann Mary, coached by Lucky, a former champion. This band of volleyball athletes must challenge Madame Amalia's team, the Black Roses in order to save their school. Along the way, Armand's friend Luther and his mysterious partner use the Legend of the Olympic Torch to teach the newly formed Spike Team the skills they will need to win.
